It's a Great Day in the Kingdom!

HELLOOOO!!

Man this week has been a complete blur! Honestly can't even remember much of what we did, but we were very busy!

I'll just start with the most exciting news? Ya know Jacob? Well he is just awesome and always has these super intense, and deep questions.... like it's pretty ridiculous. But hey, the spirit always comes in clutch. But anyway, we met with him yesterday and that lesson was so bomb! WE PUT HIM ON DATE FOR JULY 22!!!! So crazy! It was seriously the best thing ever. We went over the plan of salvation and everything that we talked about last week then we just asked him questions. Just a whole lesson on asking him where he's at. It was so sick! He knows that Joseph Smith is a prophet and that the church was restored through him, he knows all about Jesus Christ and he wants to be more like him. His only hang up is still with God, but he said that he was willing to show his faith and pick a day-- He knows that he's going to receive an answer before then. How sick is that?!? I'm just so pumped for him. That's just like the best thing about being a missionary-- it's literally a front row seat to see people change. Like our first lesson with Jacob I was scared, he's pretty intimidating, but as we continued to teach him you can see a physical change in him. It was just awesome.

Ha I don't think that I have told you guys about Jody. She's one of our investigators that we started teaching like 3 weeks ago. Her husband is a member but he hasn't come to church in like 15 years. Oh and he's an ex-marine and is kinda super scary... ha but that's beside the point. We have been able to see some real miracles with them as of late. THEY CAME TO CHURCH!!! David hasn't even prayed in 15 years, then he told us of this amazing experience that he had the other day where he finally decided to pray and he knew that God was there. Now he will pray at the end of our lessons and he has been to church twice. CRAZINESS! And Jody is just golden. She got baptized 2 years ago as a Jehovah's Witness, but she felt like she wasn't really progressing at all. So she stopped going, and she literally just eats up everything that we teach her. 

This last lesson that we had we asked her to start praying about a date for baptism, and she told us that she would because she knew that when she picked a date that would show the Lord that she has faith that everything will work out... ha we just sat there like "ya, ha that's exactly why." So it has been amazing working with their family. They have 2 kids and they are just the sweetest little kids ever. They came to primary and got CTR rings and they refuse to let anything happen to them. Super cute!

But ya, our people are doing really good. We also had one of our less actives come to church on Sunday. She hasn't been to church in years and we met with her and she decided to come. And she brought her husband, who isn't a member. We're meeting with them tomorrow night so hopefully that will go well. Honestly it's kinda crazy the miracles that we are seeing. I love it. God is good.

Another amazing thing that happened this week. We were able to go to the temple with Sabrina. We had a ward temple trip and President Miles let us go with them cause Sabrina was going for the first time. BEST DAY EVER! Seriously, Sabrina is the sweetest. And it's always super cool cause obviously we have a goal to help people get baptized... but our real goal is to help people get to the temple. So that was super awesome. And she is just being the best little missionary ever. She wants us to teach a couple of her friends... SCORE! Love it!

Ha so we have to park our cars and walk one day a week, and this past week we chose Saturday. Worst decision of our entire lives. It has never rained so much! Ha but we had fun out in the rain. Fun fact: when you're in a YSA ward your area is HUGE!! Ha so walking is always a party. But anyway, it's a good thing that Sister Ho Ching is fun or that day would have been miserable.

Ha sorry this email is all over the place. But I guess to sum it all up I could just say that things are going peachy. Our wards are doing great, our people are doing great and I am having fun. That's really the gist of it.

5k Fun Run

Well hello again!

Today has been kinda weird, President Miles assigned our zone to volunteer at this 5k run so the day has been all messed up. Also, today just happens to be the coldest day that I have been here thus far so that was really fun. We were out in the rain from 8-11 but it was fun because there were all these little kids and we were in charge of giving the little kids medals (among other things) but that was definitely the most fun.

This past week was actually like the slowest one since I have been out here, not because we weren't teaching lessons... I really don't know what it was the week just went by so slow! 

On Tuesday we got to meet with our investigator in the hospital. Seriously just love her to death! She loves us and loves when we come! We read with her the Book of Mormon and she was really excited about it. I guess it is a pretty good book ;) We also got to have a meeting/dinner with President Mclennan and his wife. Their house is really fancy and it was one of the fanciest meals I have ever eaten in my life. We got steak, which reminded me of home. Usually we get like pasta or something so it was fun to spice things up a bit. That night we also got to meet with this less active family. The mom is super awesome and wants her daughter to be baptized so we come and teach them lessons. The daughter turns 9 in a couple weeks. She loves when we come and teach her. It's really nice teaching these people that really appreciate what we are doing for them.

Wednesday was the start of the down pour. The whole province has been praying for rain and, boy oh boy,  have we gotten it. It started raining on Wednesday and it hasn't stopped since! We met with a few less actives and that went over really well. We also taught our investigator from Nigeria. We taught her the restoration and she loved it. So we're pretty excited about her, this next week we're trying to meet with her brother so we'll see how that goes. 

Thursday was so much fun! We went and helped a lady that is in a rest home.  We helped her to decorate her room. I'll have to take a picture of her room the next time we visit her cause it's just got a lot going on if ya know what I mean. We met with H again and her sons were there so we got to talk to them for a bit, trying to open some doors. Then we met with this other less active lady in our ward. After that was my favorite part of the whole week. We went and met this family from Syria. That was really fun. They told us about how their life was back in Syria then they left to Lebanon and were there for 5 years. I can't even tell you all the hard things that they had to go through but I am very humbled and so grateful for the life that I had growing up... They would walk around the streets on top of dead bodies and when they would hear gun shots they would try to hide, the 2 daughters couldn't find their family for 7 months. So ya, they've had a really hard life and they taught us all about their culture and stuff, very eye opening! 

Friday was great. we just did our weekly planning then we met with a few less actives-- nothing too crazy but still a good day. 

Saturday was okay. We met with a recent convert in the morning and talked to her about life then we had a lesson with A. We are so excited about him. He's still on date for June 4 and we talked to him about how he was feeling and he said that he has prayed and read the scriptures every day and the more he does that the more comfortable and excited he is about his baptism. We're pretty stoked. The rest of the day we just called and contacted a bunch of part member families. We didn't have a dinner so Sister Francis, being the wonderful lady that she is, said that she would take us out to dinner. We went to Tony Roma's, it's pretty much like a Texas Roadhouse but barbecue version. It was really good!

Sunday was just a very eventful day! We gave a presentation in ward council. Our zone is starting this new initiative in getting members more involved in missionary work. Pretty much the gist of it is that members need to get nonmembers and less actives to help them fulfill their callings. So ya, that went really well and I really think that it is going to help us get more referrals. Then we rushed over to YSA and got to speak in church! That went really well! A came to church and it was good because we could actually control how the meeting went! We ate dinner with like our favorite family in the Chinook ward, the Mcleods. They really are the best. just love those guys. The rest of the day was super busy and we met with 4 other people that day. We have been keeping busy that's for sure!

Super glad that we have been getting all this rain but it is a lot easier to be happy when the sun is shining, so let's hope that we see the sun sometime soon! There were a few really good talks that I read this week. Approaching the Throne of 

God with Confidence. If you have time please please read that! Also, the quote of the week for me was "I've discovered that the Lord's "no's" are merely preludes to an even greater yes". It is so true! Sometimes it is really hard to see why God would say no, but it is because he is preparing something even better for us and something better is in store!
